Few things age a person faster than frown lines, forehead creases and sagging eyebrows. A brow lift can improve all three. This cosmetic surgery, also called a forehead lift, rejuvenates the entire upper face to leave you looking less tired and angry, as well as younger.
A look you will love for years to come
If you feel bothered by signs of aging around your brow, you may be a good candidate for a brow lift. Before you commit to a permanent change, consider getting Botox®. This facial injection removes wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles under the skin, giving you a good indication of how a completed brow lift will look.
If you choose to continue receiving Botox, you will need an injection every few months to maintain your new appearance. A brow lift, while more invasive, gives you longer-lasting results that may also be more affordable in the long run.
Cosmetic surgery tailored to you
Discover if a brow lift is right for you by scheduling a consultation at the Cosmetic Surgery Center of UMass Memorial Medical Center. A board-certified cosmetic surgeon can discuss what options may best fit your needs.
There are two main types of brow lifts: endoscopic and open forehead. During an endoscopic brow lift, the cosmetic surgeon makes several tiny incisions in the scalp, and then uses a tiny video camera to work on the forehead’s internal structures.
The open forehead procedure requires an incision at the hairline through which the surgeon lifts the eyebrows, removes excess skin and modifies the muscles causing wrinkles. Because the incision is hidden underneath the hairline, it leaves little to no visible scarring.
Treatment you trust
During your cosmetic surgery, you’ll be able to relax, knowing you are being treated at the area’s leading teaching hospital. In most cases, brow lifts are done as an outpatient procedure with the options of local, general and twilight anesthesia.
Once your surgery is completed, you will experience mild discomfort that can be alleviated by oral medication. You may experience temporary numbness and itching while the nerves heal. While recovery varies from person to person, you should be able to shower and wash your hair within just a few days. After that, you can show off the new and improved you!
